Ben Austin, born in 1981 in Basildon, Essex, is currently the Managing Director of one of the UK’s leading internet marketing companies, SEO Positive Limited. His areas of expertise centre around the digital promotions market, most specifically search engine optimisation, Pay Per Click account management and bespoke web design.

My Background

My ambition to make it in an industry that is fresh and ever-changing is the main driving factor behind my decision to set up my own online marketing firm. My background lies in the finance industry and as little as five years ago I was working as a self-employed mortgage broker and captivated by the possibilities of the web.

I was swiftly coming round to the idea that the internet is the future of businesses such as mine, and was fascinated by the workings behind search engines and the promotional potential they offer to websites of any topic or complexity. As such, I was determined to push my finance website to those all-important first page positions to boost my exposure.

However, this wasn’t as straightforward as I had once thought. The SEO company I employed were not only uncommunicative, but I simply wasn’t seeing the results that I deserved. Six months later, and after throwing thousands of pounds at the campaign to no avail.

Moving Into SEO

I decided to conduct my own investigation into the search engine optimisation industry. I dedicated myself to researching which techniques and tricks truly achieve the best results and discovered that I had a natural flair for understanding the intricate algorithms behind Google and the various other major search engines.

Finally, after a lengthy period of trial and error and off the back of an extremely limited budget, my site reached page one of Google for competitive, generic key terms within the finance market. Once I learnt that this was a difficult move for even the most established SEO company, I realised that I had a great talent for search engine optimisation and it seemed natural to set up my own business in the field.

Since then, SEO Positive has flourished to become one of the top players in the digital marketing industry. The company is built on the same principles that were important to me from its inception; trust, integrity and hard work.
